英语技术论文写作注意事项

一些我们在英语论文写作过程中容易犯的错误以及注意点。

以下内容摘自：The Most Common Habits from more than 200 English Papers written by Graduate Chinese Engineering Students

Section 1

  1. 注意使用 "a, an, the"

  2. 避免超长句子

  3. 先阐述句子的主要观点，然后再描述目的、位置、原因等其它成分

  4. 不要以表示时间作为句子开头，如 "When ..., ..."

  5. 避免把句子最终要的部分直接放在开头来强调

  6. 注意使用 "which/that"

  7. 注意使用 "Respectively" 和 "respective"，当描述两个以上事物且当描述顺序很重要时使用，并注意

    1. 不要放在句子中间，respectively 一般放在句子末尾并用逗号隔开
    2. 当这个顺序用其它形式表达出来了就不要用这个词
    3. 避免不必要的使用，比如多个物体但没有明确指出时

  8. 避免多次使用 "In this paper" 或者 "In this study" ，这两个一般在开头、结尾或者文章中描述了他人工作后强调自己工作部分时使用，另外 "in this paper" 强调论文表达形式，"in this study" 表示论文所做的工作

  9. 不要在句子开头使用阿拉伯数字

  10. 注意格式，论文分段及其格式

  11. 注意使用 "such as" 和 "etc"，这两个不能同时使用，冗余了，不要用 such as 表示列举完的举例

  12. "such as"：列举未完成的例子（没有列完）

  13. "etc"：表示列举没有结束 ## Section 2

  14. 注意单词复数形式，有些不需要加 s，如

    1. literature (when referring to research)
    2. equipment,
    3. staff (referring to a group of people)
    4. faculty

  15. 避免出现冗余词组表达

  1. 注意在某些形容词后使用复数形式，如 different, various, two, etc.
  2. 不要用数字或缩写作为句子开头
  3. 不要使用 "by this way"，用 "by doing this" 或 "using this method" 替代
  4. 不要用 "how to" 作为句子开头
  5. 不要用 "the results are showed in Fig. 2"，使用 "are shown in"
  6. 变量用斜体表示，或期刊要求的格式
  7. 不要在技术论文中使用 "Obviously"
  8. 不要在国际论文中加 "at home" 等词
  9. 尽量避免使用 "that is to say" 或者 "namely" 短语，尽可能用句子重新表达
  10. 不要使用 "too" 作为句子结尾，尤其在技术论文中
